Keeping up with our tradition of getting to know more about the culture of this fantastic country we have chosen to make our home away from home, UAE Explorers invites you join us at Sheikh Mohamed Center for Cultural Understanding to Come for an evening with a traditional “iftar” meal in the Al Fahidi District, and learn about the Islamic tradition of fasting.. Held in the courtyard of the Wind Tower House in the heart of Al Fahidi District, the historical Emirati neighborhood, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Bur Dubai. Enjoy a meal with local flair while chatting with an Emirati host about UAE culture, customs and religion. The Program: The evening will begin with Adhan (call to prayer) followed by the breaking of fast with your Emirati hosts. Enjoy Arabic coffee and dates, then take a moment to watch your hosts pray, before a delicious array of Emirati dishes are served for Iftar. During the event, you are invited to ask any questions you may have about Ramadan, the culture or the traditions of the UAE. After Iftar, join us for a visit to the Diwan Mosque, after returning to the SMCCU house for dessert and tea. Please note that modest dress is always appreciated as a visit to the Diwan Mosque Is included in the Iftar program and guests will also be seated in an Arabic style seating on the floor.
